Dentist Flower Mound Texas-A Laser Cavity Detector Keeps Things Small
We Find Decay The Easy Way
You may not realize it, but even the tiniest spot of decay can mean trouble for your teeth. That's why we take such care to identify and fill cavities: it's the key to preventing all kinds of trouble down the road. In the past, diligent decay identification has required lengthy poking and prodding sessions. Unfortunately, even the best of such methods of decay detection are only 50% to 75% successful. Cavities can hide inside little fissures that occur on most back teeth. Further, mechanical exploratory methods typically find only those cavities that are equal to or larger than the probe head. For all of these reasons, we've recently invested in DIAGNOdent: a revolutionary new means of detecting cavities that gives us incredibly accurate and thorough information.
Reflection and Revelation
DIAGNOdent technology inspects your teeth using a simple laser diode, comparing reflection wavelength to a known healthy baseline wavelength, thus uncovering decay. The process is simple. First, we direct the laser onto a healthy enamel tooth surface to provide the benchmark reading. Then, we move the diode around your mouth, shining the laser into all suspect areas. As the laser pulses into grooves, fissures, and cracks, it reflects a specific wavelength of fluorescent light. At the same time, this light is measured by receptors, converted to an acoustic signal, evaluated electronically to reveal a value between one and 100, and displayed on a screen. Whenever the laser encounters a discrepancy between a tooth surface and the healthy baseline value, it stimulates emission of a different fluorescent light wavelength. A reading of 10-20 indicates that there has been some enamel softening, indicating a potential problem area that merits close monitoring. A reading of 21-100 indicates a definite area of decay requiring an immediate filling.
A Timely Tool
DIAGNOdent technology gives us a tool for catching decay with more thoroughness, timeliness, and accuracy. Further, it requires no x-rays, so our staff doesn't have to spend valuable patient care time in the darkroom. It's a relatively simple and comfortable procedure. Not only does it help prevent the spread of decay, but it helps us to treat your teeth more conservatively as well. When we spot decay sooner, the necessary fillings are typically simpler and shallower, preserving more of the tooth. Finally, we can easily and objectively monitor any suspicious areas without repeated x-rays, harm to tissues, or need for protective measures.

Cosmetic Dentist In Flower Mound TX Shares Examples Of Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic Dentist in Flower Mound TX, Dr. William Wyatt answers the question: What are Some Examples of Cosmetic Dentistry?
First impressions are important, and your smile is most often the first thing others will notice. If you have an unattractive smile, you may be giving off the wrong impression. Patients who have imperfections in their smile will typically smile less in order to hide embarrassing gaps, stains, or other visible dental problems that they may feel self-conscious about. Cosmetic dentistry is a way to give patients a beautiful smile, often in just a visit or two. Dr. William Wyatt, a Flower Mound TX dentist provides a number of cosmetic services, including, but not limited to:
Teeth Whitening
One fast and easy way to improve your smile is through the process of teeth whitening. The enamel of your teeth are safely whitened several shades through either our in-office whitening system or our take-home whitening trays.
Crowns
Are a great way to replace damaged teeth. They look and feel just like your own.
Dental Implants vs Bridges
Dental bridges can be used to replace a missing tooth. If you are considering a bridge, you may also want to learn about Dental implants, as they are the standard of care for replacing missing teeth. Their main advantage is that they look, feel, and function just like your own teeth, and you don't have to touch adjacent teeth.
Dental Bonding
This white filling material is used to help change the shape and size of a tooth. Dental bonding is used on teeth for a variety of reasons, including filling a cavity, addressing spacing between teeth, reshaping a chipped tooth, or changing the size of a tooth.
Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays can be thought of as laboratory created restorations that help fill in areas of a tooth, that are affected by dental decay. They are made out of porcelain and are custom-created in order to fit to the shape of your tooth. They are used when a tradtional filling just wont work due to the size of the decay or the fracture of a cusp.
If you live in the Flower Mound TX area and are looking for a family dentist that offers cosmetic dentistry, call Dr. Wyatt today to schedule a consultation appointment and start improving the appearance of your smile!

Flower Mound TX dentist Dr. William Wyatt says that now more than ever,
dental implants are a very popular choice for many people who have suffered tooth loss. We use dental implants in our Flower Mound, TX dental office everyday to replace missing teeth for our patients. Dental implants can restore much more than just missing teeth. They also restore your beautiful smile, and will give you the ability to eat the foods you like again without discomfort.
Missing teeth should be replaced as soon as possible to avoid other dental problems. Spaces between the teeth can lead to problems with your bite, and can allow your other teeth to shift position, and even become loose. Food particles can become trapped, leading to further gum disease and tooth decay. Ideally a tooth should be replaced as soon as it is lost, but dental implants can be effective no matter how long your tooth has been missing. Give our office a call today for a complimentary consultation and we'll help you determine if you're a good candidate for dental implants.
A dental implant is used to replace the root of a tooth that was lost. Once the implant is in place it will function exactly the same way a natural root would. Once the implant is placed and has time to heal, it can be used for a crown, bridge, or to hold a denture or partial denture in place. Dental implants are now the "standard of care." for replacing one, a few, or all teeth that are missing. Dental Implants are cared for like you would care for your normal teeth. With proper care implants can last a lifetime.
If you have suffered from tooth loss, it is possible to regain your beautiful, healthy smile. We welcome you to come in for a consultation to see what dental implants can do for you.

Meet Your Flower Mound TX Dentist, Dr. William Wyatt and his team!
Hello. We'd like to formally introduce ourselves to you and welcome you to our Flower Mound Texas Dental Practice. Please feel free to reach out to any of us with any questions or comments that you may have. It is our pleasure, and welcome to our dental family.
Meet Dr. Wyatt.
Dr. Wyatt is actively involved in many facets of dental continuing education, participating in dental conferences, symposia, and fellowships. In 1986, he received his Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry, which requires at least 500 hours of additional continuing education and the passage of a rigorous written exam. Dr. Wyatt has studied with some of the most respected dentists in the nation and the world. The Texas State Board of Dental Examiners requires 12 hours of continuing education every year to maintain licensure. Dr. Wyatt regularly averages at least 200 hours per year; 1600% more than he’s legally required to do. This affords him access to the latest technological advances in cosmetic, laser, and restorative dentistry. Dr. Wyatt is a member of The American Dental Association, The Texas Dental Association, The North Texas Dental Society, The Academy of General Dentistry, The American Association of Cosmetic Dentistry, The American Dental Implant Association and The American Dental Institute. He is currently pursuing Accreditation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American Dental Implant Association, and is attending Dr. John Kois’ Creating Restorative Excellence seminar series. Fewer than 5% of dentists nationwide achieve this level of education.
Dr. Wyatt has spoken to the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce, the Medical Protocol Committee for Emergency Medical Services for Denton County and surrounding communities, and the athletic trainers and coaches for the Lewisville Independent School District. He is currently helping set up the oral trauma protocol for the above committee and Lewisville Independent School District Athletic Department. Dr. Wyatt is also a published author on DentalTown.
In his spare time, Dr. Wyatt is an avid amateur musician, singing jazz around the area as a soloist and singing bass/baritone in the a cappella jazz vocal chorus, The New Collection, of which he is a founding member. In fact, most of his office is decorated with a jazz theme and jazz is mostly what you’ll hear on the office sound system. Dr. Wyatt also enjoys reading (mostly science, math and history), photography, woodworking, rollerblading, cycling, CrossFit, and spending time with his wife Jennifer and his two grown children, Christopher and Bronwyn. Jennifer is the social media coordinator for Dr. Wyatt’s practice and holds a degree in voice from the University of Kansas. She also sings with The New Collection as well as singing classically in the area. You might see her from time to time in the office, as she’s always around to help. Chris is an airline pilot for SkyWest Airlines and Bronwyn is a professional musician, holding an artist-in-residence position at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Meet Kristy.
Kristy joined Dr. Wyatt's team in 2009. She graduated from the Dental Hygiene school at Tarrant County College in 2002. Her prior career included 12 years in the insurance industry as an underwriter. After being in the corporate world in underwriting and sales, she decided to seek a new career path that would offer the rewards of helping people on a daily basis. After only a few minutes with her you’ll be glad that she made the jump from the world of cubicles to health care. (Coincidentally, this career change decision came after one month of marriage to her husband Rusty. She was able to quit the corporate world and go back to school. With two young children at the time, no doubt she has a fantastic husband!) Kristy has three children now; two grown sons and a young daughter. Her older son is getting married soon, having graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture. Her younger son graduated from University of Texas at Arlington in 2012 with a BA in Finance and just started his first “real” job at Atmos Energy. With two down and one to go, her daughter Gracie is in elementary school in Coppell. Gracie enjoys softball, dance, and grudgingly takes piano. She’s quite a little firecracker and we love it when Kristy brings her to the office. Kristy and her family are active in the community of Coppell and spend most of their time going to softball games, playing at the park and being involved in their church.
Kristy takes her approach to life into practicing dental hygiene. Her main goal is for patients to feel comfortable and well cared for while understanding the importance of their oral health. No finger pointing and floss lectures in her chair! She’s found that “guilting people” doesn’t work very well. Her philosophy when seeing a patient who has been unable to see a dentist in several years is, “So glad you decided to see us. What can we do to make you comfortable?”. She goes to great lengths to help patients take the next step in caring for their teeth. And sometimes... that may be just time spent talking about fears, concerns and needs!
Meet Jennifer.
Jennifer Stivanson Wyatt is Dr. Wyatt’s wife, and the Social Media Director for Flower Mound Dental. She comes to our office after 10 years in the medical field, specifically in Medical Coding. Jennifer holds a degree in Voice Performance from The University of Kansas; she sings jazz and classical musical around the DFW area. Jennifer is an avid cyclist and loves all aspects of Olympic Weight Lifting. Jennifer is passionate about health, wellness, and nutrition, and will be starting a program in the spring to obtain a Holistic Nutrition Consultant Certification. You may notice that there are many recipes and health articles posted on the Flower Mound Dental Facebook page! If you see Jennifer around the office, or out on the road on her bike, don’t hesitate to say hello; she loves getting to know new people!
Meet Jaime.
Jamie joined Dr. Wyatt’s practice in October of 2007. She was instantly welcomed as a valued member of the team. Along with her excellent people skills and quick wit, Jamie brings enthusiasm for her career that is absorbed by the entire team. She has experience in general and cosmetic dentistry along with endodontics, orthodontics, and oral surgery.Jamie’s knowledge, genuine compassion and understanding help patients feel at ease and secure during their procedure. She and Dr. Wyatt have worked so well together and for so long that it’s almost spooky. Sometimes it seems as if she can read his mind; handing him tools and materials before he’s even thought of what he needs next. Kidding aside. this sort of rare rapport helps him to concentrate on taking care of the patient’s dentistry, knowing Jamie’s there to take care of everything else. If you have any post-op procedural issues, please don’t hesitate to call Jamie. She is here to help you.
Meet Mary.
Mary became part of Dr. Wyatt’s team in 2005. She started her dental career in 1978 in Terre Haute, Indiana while attending Indiana State University. She was a dental assistant for 10 years before moving into Dental Office Administration. Her knowledge of the “technical side” of dentistry makes her a huge asset to the patients when explaining and outlining their treatment. Her years working with scheduling and dental insurance after her dental assisting days were done make her an invaluable part of Dr Wyatt’s team. There are not many dental questions you might have that Mary won’t be able to answer. Whether you are a patient or are thinking of becoming a patient, please don’t hesitate to call Mary with any of those questions you might have.
Meet Lauren.
Lauren joined Dr. Wyatt’s team in April 2012, fresh out of Dental Assisting school. She has been a quick learner and has moved into the Hygiene Coordinator position. Lauren has added such an enthusiastic vibe to our practice! We don’t know what we would do without her!
Her friendly phone manner and attention to detail will be of great help to you when scheduling your appointments.
Lauren is originally from New York, and has been in Texas for 10 years – “almost” qualifies her as a native!
She is attending North Central Texas College to get her pre-requisites completed before going to Dental Hygiene School. Where, who knows, she may be back with us as one of our dental hygienists!
Meet Suzi. Photo coming soon!
Suzi joined our team in January of 2012. She started out in dentistry as a dental assistant in 1989, then decided to become a dental hygienist, graduating from Wichita State University in 1996.
